How I Thrive
I thrive by spending time with my significant other and friends, reading, playing board games, drinking coffee, finding new restaurants, and cuddling with my cat, Star. I was born and raised in Oregon and moved to Washington for College and studied psychology. I have spent some time volunteering as a high school teacher in Pohnpei of the Federal States of Micronesia and working with a dolphin assisted therapy program in Florida. After attending medical school in Southern California, I knew I wanted to stay in the area to continue my training through residency and am so excited to be at Kaiser Permanente to learn and grow as a psychiatrist. I love all aspects of psychiatry but have a special place in my heart for the child and adolescent populations and hope to pursue a CAP fellowship after residency.

How I Thrive
I love spending time outdoors, whether it's hiking in nature, playing tennis, or having a game of badminton. I also get excited about discovering new cafes and restaurants, watching comedy, and discussing stoicism and positive psychology over a cup of tea. Raised in New Jersey, I moved to Southern California to attend UC Santa Barbara, where I earned my B.S. in Biopsychology. Following graduation, I remained in Santa Barbara, continuing my work with Doctors Without Walls in street medicine and serving as an EMT in the emergency department. Later, I moved to Michigan to pursue my MD degree. I’m deeply grateful to be back in sunny Southern California to continue my journey toward becoming a psychiatrist at Kaiser Permanente. My professional interests include street medicine, addiction psychiatry, cultural psychiatry, interventional psychiatry, and women’s mental health.

How I Thrive
I thrive when I am surrounded by people that I love. Whether I’m losing at a board game, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes on a camping trip, getting crushed by my warmup deadlift weight, or burning a recipe I’ve cooked 100 times; I couldn’t be happier as long as I’m doing it with loved ones. I am originally from Colorado and studied at the University of Colorado where I thought I was going to become a pediatrician or a pastor. After college, I spent five years working for a Christian nonprofit, but decided that medicine was how I could best serve others. I excited to train at an organization like Kaiser that emphasizes whole person care

I decided to pursue a career in medicine after undergoing major lung surgeries in high school and college. My KP experience as a patient played a vital role during this formative period of my life, which ultimately fostered a sense of duty to care for each patient’s life as if it were my own. I am thrilled to be part of a physician-led organization that promotes a culture of wellness through meaningful human connection and compassionate care.

How I Thrive
I've got a wide range of hobbies, from scuba diving and kaiju films, to swimming and video games, to traveling, poetry, Pokemon, and more. Even more so, I love spending time with my friends and doing anything and everything - especially new things - with them. I’m also a rabid 49ers fan, but that’s more suffering than thriving.
I am the luckiest person to have such amazing friends and family and have met so many incredible people in my life. Pretty much everyone I’ve met has taught or shown me something to learn, even if I didn’t realize it at the time. I’m excited to keep living, learning, and loving as I enter the next season of the weird and wild sit-com that is my life.
